Jackson's Millsaps College to host voting rights discussion
Millsaps College will host a voting rights panel discussion on Oct. 3, 2024, titled “Choosing Our Future: A Community Conversation on Voting Rights.” The event is sponsored by the Millsaps Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Center, the Millsaps Department of Government & Politics, the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute, and Mississippi Today.
The event is free and open to the public, and will take place at 6:00 pm in room 215 of the Getrude C. Ford Academic Complex.
Arekia S. Bennett-Scott, executive director of Mississippi Votes, will lead the discussion, with participants including:
Yehesuah Downie, with the Restore Your Vote Organizer at the Campaign Legal Center in Washington, D.C.
Valenica Richardson, voting rights legal counsel at the Campaign Legal Center
